The Institute is the house’s custodial arm: the body charged with keeping what the maison knows — its archive, its standards, its record — beyond the tenure of any one person.

Its founding document is the Charter: the axiom, the mandate, and the constitution under which the Institute operates. The Charter is published in full and its anchors are permanent.
